The commemorative 2 euro coin Andorra 2021 100th anniversary of the coronation of Our Lady of Meritxell was issued to celebrate the centenary of the coronation of the Madonna of Meritxell as the patroness of the Principality of Andorra. Issued on 15/12/2021

The Madonna of Meritxell is a very important figure for the Andorran population. The Sanctuary of Meritxell, located in the Valira d'Orient, is one of the most popular pilgrimage sites in the country.

The obverse of the coin features an image of the Madonna of Meritxell, patroness of the Principality of Andorra. The Madonna is depicted with a cloak, a veil, and a child in her arms. To her left is the symbol of a flower. In the background, there is a representation of the Sanctuary of Meritxell, the most important place of worship in the country. To the left is the date 192, at the center below ANDORRA, and to the right the date 2021.

Around the edge, the twelve stars of the European Union are arranged in a circle.

The reverse of the coin features the nominal value 2 EURO, the Common Side of the coin.

2 Euro Commemorative Belgium 2021 Karlsgulden minted under Charles V, commemorate the 500th anniversary of the ordinance of the second period of coin issuance during the reign of Charles V. Coin issued on 27/10/2021

The Obverse features the portrait of Charles V in Renaissance attire, beneath the inscription CAROLUS V. On the upper left, the Carolus d'or is depicted, which was the coin issued under the ordinance 500 years ago; below it is the monogram of Belgium BE and the date of issuance of the commemorative 2021.

At the bottom of the coin, the symbols of the Dutch Mint, the caduceus, and the coat of arms of the municipality of Herzele are present, which also represents the symbol of Ingrid van Herzele, director of the Belgian Mint. One of the two commemoratives of 2021 is the coin dedicated to Estonia's national animal, the Wolf. Coin issued on 20/10/2021

On the Obverse, the silhouette of a howling wolf is depicted, with the profile of a forest and a starry sky in the background.
At the top, the inscription CANIS LUPUS (Wolf Dog) appears, and at the bottom left, the name of the issuing state EESTI is engraved, while on the right, the year of issue 2021.

A particularity of this coin is that the design was modified after the approval of the European Commission, as it resembled too closely the identifying logo of the Grey Wolves, a known extremist association in Turkey.
Indeed, the first draft was approved but was promptly modified after the complaint from Rudolf Diephuis (German Collector and Numismatist).

Also from 2021, the Commemorative Finland dedicated to the 100 years of the Åland Islands. Coin issued on 13/08/2021.

On the Obverse is a non-abstract depiction, but rather a maritime view of the Åland Islands archipelago. The viewpoint is a subjective one from the spectator on board a boat, whose bow is visible, following the course with a compass held in hand.

At the top of the coin, in a semicircle, is the inscription ÅLANDS SJÄLVSTYRELSE 100 ÅR and at the bottom AHVENANMAAN ITSEHALLINTO 100 VUOTTA.

The 2 Euro San Marino 2021 Dürer is the second commemorative coin of the Republic of San Marino for 2021 and is dedicated to the 550th anniversary of the birth of Albrecht Dürer. The Mary Magdalene Penitent is an oil on canvas measuring 122.5×98.5cm painted by Michelangelo Merisi known as Caravaggio between 1594 and 1595. The work is exhibited at the Doria Pamphilj Gallery in Rome. The model who posed for Caravaggio was the young seventeen-year-old prostitute Anna Bianchini with whom Caravaggio had a turbulent relationship and who posed for several of Merisi's works.
