2 Euro 2018 Commemorative Coins

Passiamo ad una moneta dall’incredibile importanza storica per il Principato di Andorra. Nello specifico si tratta della moneta da 2 Euro Commemorativa di Andorra coniata nel 2018 in occasione del 25° Anniversario della Costituzione.

In particolare i cittadini andorrani tramite il referendum tenutosi il 14 Marzo 1993, espressero la loro volontà di di diventare uno Stato costituzionale, democratico e sociale, come previsto dall'articolo 1 della Costituzione.

Al Dritto la moneta presenta una rappresentazione del “Monumento agli uomini e alle donne di Andorra che hanno voluto la Costituzione” il quale si trova nella piazza del Consell General, ovvero il Parlamento di Andorra.

A destra del monumento è presente la cartina geografica di Andorra con all’interno il motto del Principato ovvero “VIRTVS VNITA FORTIOR” (nell'unità la virtù è più forte). Tutto intorno al disegno è presente invece la scritta “25è ANIVERSARI DE LA CONSTITUCIÓ 1993-2018” (25° anniversario della Costituzione 1993-2018) accompagnata da quella “ANDORRA”.

Sul bordo più esterno la moneta presenta le consuete dodici stelle a cinque punte, simbolo dell'Europa.

Sempre nello stesso anno della moneta precedente, ovvero il 2018, è stata coniata anche un’altra moneta. Parliamo della moneta da 2 Euro Commemorativa di Andorra coniata per il 70° Anniversario della Dichiarazione Universale dei Diritti Umani.

In 2018, we find the theme of University once again in the commemorative coin that marks the 50th anniversary of the Student Revolt 1968, which took place in the universities of Belgium and began on May 13, 1968. Issued on 14/05/2018.

Once again, a coin with strong symbolic and representative value. Specifically, we are talking about the €2 Commemorative coin from Estonia minted in 2018 to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Baltic States.

In the same year, another coin was minted. Specifically, we are talking about the €2 Commemorative coin minted in 2018 to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Estonia's independence.

Estonia achieved independence in 1918, and while the coin minted in 2017 celebrated the journey to independence, this coin was minted to commemorate the centenary of this joyous event.

Nel 2018 viene coniata questa moneta commemorativa che si può definire naturalistica, perchè omaggia il Parco del Koli. Commemorativa emessa il 28/05/2018.

Arriviamo al 2018 e troviamo la commemorativa di Simone Jacob Veil, nota Politica francese sopravvissuta alla Shoah e da sempre di esempio per la lotta a favore dei diritti femminili. Nel 1975 fu per merito suo venne approvata la legge sull'aborto in Francia.
Al Dritto infatti c'è raffigurato il suo viso che ci guarda determinato con sotto il numero con cui era stata registrata al campo di concentramento di Auschwitz. Nella parte alta a sinistra la scritta SIMONE VEIL con sotto le date 1997 – 2017, mentre al centro della raffigurazione del Parlamento ci sono le iniziali della Repubblica Francese con sotto il millesimo 2018 e la data 1975. Another commemorative coin from 2018, this one is not dedicated to any monument, but rather to a historical figure, the German Chancellor Helmut Schmidt, marking 100 years since his birth (1918/2015). Issued on 30/01/2018.

For 2018, the Commemorative coin is dedicated to Berlin and its Palace. The coin was issued on 30/01/2018. The main subject is indeed the Charlottenburg Palace and the grand French Garden in front of it. This is the largest historical monument that survived after World War II in Berlin, a palace with majestic Rococo interiors, such as the famous “Porcelain Room,” room number 95, rich in precious porcelain from Japan and China.

The Obverse of this 2 euro Germany showcases a frontal view of the Charlottenburg Palace in Baroque style, with the entrance framed by the sculptures of two Warriors. The penultimate coin in this long and rich collection celebrates the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Ministry of Health: it is the 2 Euro Italy 2018 Ministry of Health.

On the Obverse, we find the face of a woman representing Health. This is followed by several symbols depicting some of the activities of the Ministry of Health such as research, medicine, environment, and nutrition. At the top of the coin, the inscription “MINISTERO DELLA SALUTE” is engraved, followed on the right by the dates “1958 – 2018”.

Between the inscription at the top and the design, we can also notice the mint mark. On the left is the monogram of the Italian Republic, while at the bottom are the initials of the designer.

Eccoci giunti ad una moneta da 2 Euro Commemorativa della Lituania dall’importanza storica non indifferente. La penultima moneta da 2 Euro commemorativa di Malta è stata coniata nel 2018 per rendere omaggio alla solidarietà verso il patrimonio culturale.

Al Dritto infatti la moneta presenta la raffigurazione di un tempio preistorico maltese con in alto un sole e due costruzioni: una a cupola e un campanile. In basso una barca con bandiera maltese che solca le acque.

Sopra il tempio è presente la scritta MALTA mentre in basso il millesimo di conio. L’autrice del disegno originale è Nicole Dimech una studentessa della scuola secondaria facente parte del programma “From children in Solidarity” promosso dal Malta Community Chest Fund.

Ancora una moneta che rappresenta un reperto antico. Nello specifico questa moneta da 2 Euro Commemorativi Malta 2018 è stata coniata in onore del complesso preistorico di Mnajdra situato non lontano da quello di Ħaġar Qim.

Al Dritto la moneta rappresenta per l’appunto il complesso preistorico mentre in alto orientata verso destra c’è la scritta “MNAJDRA TEMPLES”. Subito in basso le date “3600 – 2500 BC”. Sempre rivolte verso il basso, nella parte destra ci sono le iniziali dell’autore NGB. In basso a sinistra si trova invece la scritta MALTA con sotto il millesimo di conio. We have reached the penultimate coin in this collection. Specifically, we are talking about the €2 Commemorative coin from Monaco minted in 2018 for the 250th Anniversary of the Birth of François-Joseph Bosio.

Bosio was an incredible Monegasque sculptor who gained some fame in the early 19th century thanks to several wonderful works created for Napoleon and others.

The National Side: Regarding the coin on the Obverse, we find the representation of the face of François-Joseph Bosio with the sculpture of the Nymph Salmacis to the right.

At the bottom, just below the two representations, we can find the inscriptions “FRANCOIS JOSEPH BOSIO” and “1768 • SCULPTEUR • 2018”.

Both of these inscriptions are enclosed by the symbol of the Paris mint, namely the cornucopia, and the symbol of the mint director Yves Sampo, which is a pentagon with the letters AGMP (Atelier de Gravure de la Monnaie de Paris et Pessac). As with the other coins, on the outer edge, we can also observe the 12 five-pointed stars representing the European states. On the Reverse, we talk about the Common Side which is the same for all €2 coins in circulation.

La moneta successiva ricorda ancora uno dei più importanti scultori, pittori, commediografi e architetti italiani ovvero Giovan Lorenzo Bernini. In particolare questa moneta da 2 Euro commemorativa di San Marino è stata coniata nel 2018 in onore del 420° anniversario della nascita di Bernini.

Al Dritto possiamo trovare la rappresentazione di una delle sue opere più famose ovvero il Busto di Costanza Bonarelli conservato al Museo Nazionale del Bargello a Firenze. A sinistra ad arco possiamo trovare la scritta SAN MARINO e le date 1598 – 2018. A destra è presente il simbolo di zecca R e la scritta BERNINI mentre in basso sono incise le iniziali dell’autrice A.M. L'autore è Annalisa Masini.

Il busto di Costanza Bonarelli è una scultura in marmo realizzata da Gian Lorenzo Bernini nel 1637/1638 alta 72cm, attualmente esposta al Museo del Bargello. Unica opera di Bernini realizzata non su commissione.

Costanza Bonarelli, moglie del lucchese Matteo Bonarelli, allievo di Bernini, era la segreta amante di Gian Lorenzo Bernini. Tuttavia anche il fratello di Gian Lorenzo, Luigi Bernini, frequentava segretamente Costanza. Accecato dalla gelosia Gian Lorenzo tentò di uccidere il fratello Luigi e ordinò lo sfregio punitivo sul viso di Costanza.
Fu solo grazie alle conoscenze della famiglia che il Bernini non subì grosse conseguenze per gli atti compiuti.

L'abbraccio tra la Madonna ed Elisabetta è un particolare della Visitazione, l'olio su tela dipinto dal Tintoretto nel 1588 delle dimensioni di 158x237cm conservato nella Scuola Grande di San Rocco a Venezia.

Passiamo subito ad un’altra moneta importantissima per la storia della Slovacchia, l'undicesima moneta. Nello specifico questa moneta da 2 Euro Commemorativa della Slovacchia è stata coniata nel 2018 per il 25° Anniversario della costituzione della Repubblica Slovacca.

This is a coin of both archaeological and religious significance. Specifically, we are talking about the €2 commemorative coin from Spain minted in 2018 in honor of Santiago de Compostela and the Cathedral erected in its name. Issued on 7/02/2018.

It is important to note that Santiago de Compostela in Italian is Giacomo il Maggiore, a disciple of Jesus, whose remains are believed to be located in the city of the same name. This has also inspired the famous pilgrimage route that thousands of people embark on each year.

Now let's move on to a commemorative coin created for purely cultural purposes. Specifically, this €2 coin was minted in honor of the European Year of Cultural Heritage.

On the Obverse of the 2 Euro Vatican 2018, we see the artwork “Group of Laocoön” depicting the priest Laocoön and his sons struggling against the serpents, a sculpture preserved in the Vatican Museums.
