2 Euro 2013 Commemorative Coins

Here we have the coin from 2013 issued for the 100th Anniversary of the founding of the Royal Meteorological Institute. Bimetallic coin issued on 18/09/2013

On the Obverse, the number 100 appears in three different fonts and sizes, with the second zero transforming into a stylized sun. Inside the first zero, the initials KMI and IRM are inscribed on two lines. KMI stands for Königliches Meteorologisches Institut and IRM stands for Institut Royal Météorologique.
In the background on the left, the meteorological lines isobars are depicted, below them the stylization of rain and snow.

Among the rays of the sun at the bottom, the Belgian initials BE and below the 1, the symbols of the Mint and the new Director, the Archangel Gabriel for the Mint and the Cat for Bernard Gillard. At the top center, the minting year 2013 and all around, the twelve stars that form the identifying logo of Europe.

Il 2013 vede come protagonista una moneta Commemorativa al maschile, dedicata appunto ad uno scrittore nonché Premio Nobel per la letteratura quale era Frans Eemil Sillanpää, per il 125° dalla sua nascita. Moneta emessa il 4/11/2013.

Nel 2013 per il 150° Anniversario della nascita del barone Pierre de Coubertin, fondatore dei Giochi Olimpici, nonché storico e pedagogista, fu coniata una moneta in suo onore.
Al centro della moneta, al Dritto, il ritratto del dirigente sportivo con i suoi caratteristici baffi francesi di fine ottocento con dietro quattro atleti e i cerchi olimpici. In alto a sinistra la scritta PIERRE DE COUBERTIN, sotto, all'inteno di un cerchio olimpico, la sigla di stato RF e il millesimo di conio 2013.

In 2013, Germany also issued a commemorative coin for the Treaties of Elysée to mark the 50th Anniversary of its signing. The designers are Stefani Lindner, Alina Hoyer, Yves Sampo, and Sneschana Russewa-Hoyer, with the signature located under the portrait of De Gaulle. The issuance date is 22/01/2013.

On the Obverse of this 2 euro coin, the portraits of Konrad Adenauer and Charles De Gaulle are depicted, respectively on the right and left, with their signatures below.
In the central part, a central band starts from the top with the inscription: TRAITÉ DE L' ÉLYSÉE / 50 / ANS / JAHRE / 2013 / ÉLYSÉE- / VERTRAG.
To the right, the letter D is present, representing Deutschland. On the right side, the mint mark (A/D/F/G/J) is also present, specifically below the portrait of Adenauer.

The 2013 German commemorative €2 coin features the Maulbronn Monastery Baden, slightly different in design compared to previous coins dedicated to architectural monuments. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was issued on 1/02/2013.

On the Obverse, the coin is divided into two parts; on the right, the façade of the Maulbronn Monastery Baden is depicted in perspective, with the mint mark between A/D/F/G/J on the right and the year of issue 2013 at the top. At the bottom, the inscription BADEN-WÜTTEMBERG and the German symbol D appear. On the left side of the coin, an internal architecture is shown with the vaults of the former Cistercian abbey and the Fountain House, along with the engraver's signature Eugen Ruhl (ER) at the bottom.

Now the 2 Euro Commemorative Italy 2013, another coin that relates to a historically significant figure for our country. Specifically, this coin commemorates the 200th anniversary of the birth of Giuseppe Verdi.

On the Obverse, we find the representation of the bust of Verdi with the symbol of the Italian Republic at the top left and the date 1813 at the bottom, while on the right, the mintmark is at the top and the date 2013 at the bottom. Giungiamo quindi ad un’altra moneta commemorativa ovvero la moneta da 2 Euro Commemorativi Malta 2013. Questo specifico pezzo di numismatica fu coniato per commemorare la concessione da parte della Gran Bretagna nei confronti di Malta, di istituire una sorta di autogoverno nel 1921.

Al Dritto la moneta raffigura una rappresentazione dell’arcipelago maltese accompagnato dalla popolazione. In alto è presente la scritta “MALTA – Self-government 1921” e in basso il millesimo di conio.

Let's move on to the next €2 Commemorative coin from Monaco minted in 2013 to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of UN Membership.

National Side: On the Obverse, this €2 coin from Monaco features a quite significant design. It depicts a dove with an olive branch in its beak and, in the background, the five continents. At the top, the large inscription “MONACO” is present, while at the bottom it reads “1993 – ADMISSION TO THE UN – 2013”.

Passiamo nuovamente ad una moneta che, in questo caso, rimarca un avvenimento importante per il Paese in questione. Parliamo infatti della moneta da 2 Euro Commemorativa coniata nel 2013 per festeggiare i 200 anni del Regno d’Olanda.

La prossima moneta è sempre dello stesso anno della precedente ovvero del 2013. Nello specifico questa moneta da 2 Euro Commemorativa è stata coniata per commemorare l’incoronazione di Sua Altezza Guglielmo Alessandro succeduto alla Regina Beatrice il 30 Aprile 2013.

Al Dritto possiamo difatti osservare proprio la rappresentazione dei volti dei due sovrani rivolti verso sinistra, con Beatrice davanti e Guglielmo Alessandro dietro.

To celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the construction of the Torre dos Clérigos, a commemorative coin was issued in 2013 featuring the Tower prominently. It was issued on 20/06/2013.

On the Obverse, the Torre dos Clérigos is clearly visible from a low perspective, positioned on the left, while on the right, the Ponte Dom Luis is seen, an arch bridge spanning the Douro river, connecting Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia.
Below the bridge is the coat of arms of Portugal with the inscription PORTOGALLO, and to the left of the bridge are the mintmark symbol INCM and the signature of the designer HUGO MACIEL. At the top of the coin, in an arc, is inscribed the text 250 ANOS TORRE DOS CLERIGOS – 2013.

Arriviamo ad un’altra moneta che commemora un personaggio storico. In particolare questa moneta da 2 Euro commemorativa di San Marino è stata coniata nel 2013 in onore del 500° anniversario della morte di Pinturicchio noto pittore italiano.

Al Dritto possiamo notare un particolare di un suo dipinto dal nome “Disputa di Gesù con i Dottori”. Nella parte alta sono presenti la R della zecca, la scritta PINTURICCHIO e le date 1513 – 2013. Nella parte inferiore la scritta SAN MARINO e il nome del’autrice MOMONI. L'autore è Claudia Momoni

La Disputa di Gesù con i Dottori del Tempio è un affresco del 1500/1501 di Pinturicchio (Bernardino di Betto) dal quale è stato tratto il particolare riportato nella moneta da 2 euro del 2013. L'affresco si trova nella Cappella Baglioni della Chiesa Colleggiata di Santa Maria Maggiore a Spello (Perugia).

Quinta commemorativa: Si passa quindi ad una moneta dall'incredibile importanza storica e religiosa. In particolare questa moneta da 2 Euro Commemorativa della Slovacchia è stata coniata nel 2013 in occasione del 1150° Anniversario della missione di Costantino e Metodio nella Grande Moravia avvenuta nell’863 d.C.

Al Dritto la moneta presenta proprio la rappresentazione di Metodio e Costantino che recano in mano una doppia croce e il vangelo. Al di sopra di questo disegno è impressa ad arco la scritta “”KONŠTANTÍN METOD” mentre in basso quella “SLOVENSKO ● 863 ● 2013”.

The next coin was minted to commemorate the 800th anniversary of the discovery of the Postojna Caves, a well-known natural site.

On the Obverse, the coin features a spiral that begins on the left with the inscription POSTOJNSKA JAMA 1213 – 2013 SLOVENIA and ends with two stylized stalagmites. As usual, the outer edge displays the 12 five-pointed stars representing the member states of the European Union.

On the Reverse, the coin is identical to all the others.

Here we are in 2013 with a new commemorative bimetallic coin. The coin in question was minted in 2013 in honor of the Monastery of San Lorenzo del Escorial, which was commissioned by Philip II as a residence and pantheon for the King of Spain. In 1984, it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Issued on 1/03/2013.

On the Obverse, we can see the representation of the Monastery, while at the top there is the arch inscription ESPAÑA. Moving down to the right, we can also find the year of minting and the crowned M, the symbol of the Madrid Mint. Surrounding it, as usual, are the 12 five-pointed stars, arranged in a circle, representing the European countries.

Now let's look at the €2 coin minted to commemorate the Sede Vacante of 2013. On the Obverse, we notice the coat of arms of the Cardinal Camerlengo which dominates the emblem of the Apostolic Chamber.

Surrounding it, on the left, is the inscription “CITTÀ DEL VATICANO” while on the right is “SEDE VACANTE MMXIII”. At the bottom, we find the name of the author “P. DANIELE” and the initials of the engraver “M.C.C. INC.” while slightly to the left is the mint mark R. All around, as usual, we can see the 12 five-pointed stars representing the European states.

We arrive at another 2 Euro coin from the Vatican that commemorates a youth day. Specifically, this coin was minted in honor of the XXVIII World Youth Day.

On the Obverse, it features the statue of Christ the Redeemer, a famous statue located in Rio De Janeiro, surrounded by young people celebrating. The inscription “XXVIII W.Y.D. VATICAN CITY RIO 2013″ encircles the design. To the right, the mintmark and the name of the designer are present. As with other coins, the 12 five-pointed stars representing the member states of the European Union are also included.

The Reverse is the same as that of other 2 Euro coins.
