Finland €2 European Union Enlargement 2004 — Value and Rarity
Full sheet for Finland's 2004 €2 commemorative European Union Enlargement: estimated value, mintage and obverse description.
Description of the 2 Euro European Union Enlargement 2004
The first Finnish 2 euro commemorative coin was minted in 2004 and dedicated to the expansion of Europe.
Minted on 1/06/2004 in Helsinki-Vantaa, Finland (M).
A controversial coin due to its high value, almost unjustified according to many numismatists who cannot understand the reason for such interest in a commemorative coin that does not have significant particularities. But let's see the description and the reason for such interest.
On the Obverse, the upper part of a pillar with the EU initials, which stands for Europe, is visible, from which a sprout spreads and extends into new forms, a clear symbol of expansion with solid foundations. On the right, the letters MM indicate the author Makinen and the director of the Mint Makkonen.
The year of minting is at the top of the coin on the circle made of nickel and copper that interrupts the sequence of twelve stars arranged in a circle as in the symbol of Europe.
The Reverse is represented by the Common Side, which features the value side and the map of Europe with the borders engraved between states.
Edge: Along the entire lateral edge, finely milled, the engraving with the inscription: SUOMI FINLAND with 3 lion heads.
