Description of the 2 Euro Akseli Gallen Kallela 2015
Another commemorative coin from 2015 is dedicated to Finnish painter Akseli Gallen-Kallela, who painted The Swan of Tuonela for the historical epic poem of Finland, Kalevala. Issued on 22/10/2015.
On the Obverse of this 2 euro Finland coin, the Swan, a Finnish symbol, is depicted on the water with the wavy lines taken from his work. Below the inscription AKSELI GALLÉN KALLELA, interrupted only by the palette of Akseli Gallen-Kallela, are engraved the dates 1865 and 2015, the year of birth and the minting year. The symbol of the heraldic Lion inside a circle, representing the Finnish Mint, is on the right side of the palette, while the abbreviation for Finland, FI, is engraved on the line separating water and sky on the right.
The ring around the coin features the logo of Europe with its stars arranged in a circle.
The Reverse is the so-called value side, or Common Side, which is the same for all 2 euro coins.
The Edge, as with all commemoratives, bears the inscription SUOMI FINLAND accompanied by 3 lions.
