Finland €2 Tove Marika Jansson 2014 — Value and Rarity

Here is another commemorative coin dedicated to a female figure, this time it is for a well-known Finnish writer, painter, and illustrator, Tove Marika Jansson. The coin was issued on 16/06/2014 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of her birth on 9/08/1914.

Her mother was an illustrator and her father a sculptor, also known for being the mother of the characters from the Moomin series, children's books that have been translated into over thirty languages and originated in 1946.

The Obverse features a stylization of Tove Marika Jansson's self-portrait painted in oil in 1975. Below the face is her signature and the dates 1914-2001, marking her birth and death. On the right side, there is the minting year 2014 and the mint symbol, the heraldic lion in a circle. On the left, the abbreviation FI, the identifying code for Finland.

On the ring part of the coin, the symbol of Europe is engraved, with 12 stars arranged in a circle. Designer: Jari Lepistö

The value side is the Reverse of the coin, known as the Common Side and the same for all two euro coins. As for the edge, it is finely milled and bears the inscription SUOMI FINLAND followed by the design of 3 lion heads.
