Lithuania €2 Žemaitija 2019 — Value and Rarity

Once again, Lithuania is able to amaze with its coins. Specifically, this 2 Euro Commemorative coin was minted in 2019 and is the first of a series of five on the ethnographic regions that make up Lithuania (“Lietuvos etnografiniai regionai”)

This first coin is dedicated to the region of Žemaitija.

On the Obverse, we can observe the Coat of Arms of the Region. It features a bear standing on its hind legs with a chain collar around its neck. This is placed within a shield and has a crown on top.

The shield is held on the left by an armored soldier, symbolizing courage and strength, and on the right by a goddess symbolizing hope.

Below, there is an inscription on a banner that reads “PATRIA UNA” meaning “one homeland”. At the top, we can see the word “LIETUVA” prominently displayed, while at the bottom is “ŽEMAITIJA” followed by the year of issue “2019”.

To the right, the symbol of the Vilnius Mint “LMK” (Lietuvos Monetų Kalykla) is engraved.
All around the coin are the 12 five-pointed stars representing the European states.
