In 2014, the Portuguese Mint in Lisbon also issued a commemorative coin for the 40th Anniversary of the Carnation Revolution. Release date: 04/23/2014.

The Obverse of these 2 euro coins features a stylized central carnation with the word PORTUGAL at the top and the coat of arms of Portugal itself. To the left, the inscription 25 DE ABRIL begins, composed of letters and numbers of varying sizes and not aligned. In the lower central part, the inscription 40/ ANOS / 2014 is engraved on three lines, while along the right edge, the symbol of the Lisbon Mint INCM and the signature of JOSÉ TEIXEIRA, the engraver, are inscribed.

Surrounding the nickel part are depicted the 12 stars, emblem of Europe.

On the Common Side of this commemorative coin, the nominal value of the coin is shown: 2 euros.

The edge is made up of seven castles and five coats of arms.
