Description of the 2 Euro Erasmus Program 2022

The 2 Euro Commemorative Slovakia 2022 Erasmus Programme was issued in all Eurozone countries, to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Erasmus Programme. Coin issued on 1/07/2022

The “Erasmus Programme” was born in 1987 from the brilliant intuition of the Educator Sofia Corradi who, collaborating with Domenico Lenarduzzi, managed to create the conditions for this ambitious “Student Exchange Project across Europe” to start. The name chosen for the project is dedicated to Desiderius Erasmus of Rotterdam (Humanist, Philosopher, and Theologian) author of the In Praise of Folly who traveled Europe to learn about its diverse cultures.

On the Obverse of the commemorative coin, the profile of Desiderius Erasmus of Rotterdam is depicted while writing his essay. Above his right hand is the signature of the engraver Joaquin Jimenez JJ. In the background, there are a series of intertwined lines forming the number 35. At the bottom right, the inscription 1987-2022 EURASMUS PROGRAMME SLOVENSKO is engraved. At the bottom left is the symbol of the Kremnica Mint MK (Mincovňa Kremnica).

On the outer part around the perimeter of the coin, the 12 stars symbolizing the European Union are distributed.
