Finland €2 Erasmus Program 2022 — Value and Rarity

The 2 Euro Commemorative Finland 2022 Erasmus Program coin is dedicated to the 35th year of the Erasmus Program (European Action Scheme for the Mobility of University Students). Issued in all EURO ZONE countries. Release date 1/07/2022

The “Erasmus Program” was indeed born in 1987 from the intuition of the Pedagogue Sofia Corradi and the collaboration with Domenico Lenarduzzi. Together they managed to create the right conditions to launch the ambitious “Student exchange project across Europe“. The name, ERASMUS, is dedicated to Desiderius Erasmus of Rotterdam, who was a Humanist, Philosopher, and Theologian, known as the author of The Praise of Folly.

On the Obverse of the coin, there is depicted, facing left, the profile of Desiderius Erasmus of Rotterdam as he writes his essay The Praise of Folly. Above his right hand is the signature of the engraver Joaquin Jimenez JJ. In the background, there are a series of intertwined bands forming the number 35, and in the center is engraved the national monogram FI. At the bottom of the coin, on the right, is inscribed the text 1987-2022 EURASMUS OHJELMA PROGRAMMET and the Circle containing the Heraldic Lion, symbol of the Finnish Mint.

Surrounding the coin are the 12 stars of the European logo.
