On the Obverse, the coin features, perfectly centered, a festive crowd with the Government Palace and Valletta in the background. At the top, the inscription “MALTA – majority representation 1887” and at the bottom, the year of minting.

The mint mark is present at the bottom only on the FDC Divisionale and not on circulating coins.

Surrounding it are the 12 five-pointed stars representing the European states.
