Description of the 2 Euro Erasmus 2022

The 2 Euro commemorative Malta 2022 Erasmus is dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the Erasmus Programme, that is the European Community Action Scheme for the Mobility of University Students. The programme was established on June 15, 1987 and is dedicated to the Dutch humanist and theologian Desiderius Erasmus of Rotterdam, who traveled throughout Europe during his lifetime to learn about its diverse cultures. The commemorative coin has been issued by all the countries of the EUROZONE. Issued on 1/07/2022

The Obverse features the portrait of Erasmus of Rotterdam engaged in writing his work “In Praise of Folly“, with a background of interwoven links that highlight the number 35 and symbolize the numerous movements and interconnections between the various countries.

At the bottom right, the inscription reads:
