2 Euro 2005 Commemorative Coins

What we will see in this in-depth analysis is the first coin that is part of the Austrian 2 Euro Commemoratives. In particular, we are talking about the 2 Euro Commemorative coin of Austria minted on May 11, 2005, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Austrian State Treaty.

This Treaty was extremely important for Austrian politics as it restored complete independence and democracy to Austria. It was signed in Vienna in 1955 at the Belvedere Palace by France, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the Soviet Union. The Austrian government resumed full powers starting from July 27 of that same year.

Partiamo dalla prima moneta commemorativa da 2 euro Belga che è stata coniata nel 2005 e dedicata all'Unione Economica del Belgio e del Lussemburgo. Moneta del 25/05/2005.

Al Dritto della moneta ci sono i profili rivolti a sinistra del Re del Belgio Alberto II, in primo piano, e del Granduca del Lussemburgo Henri, dietro.
Sotto al centro c'è il millesimo di conio 2005, le iniziali dell'incisore Luc Luycx sono invece sotto il collo del Re del Belgio a destra.
L'anello esterno, realizzata in nichel e rame, riporta sei stelle a semicerchio nella parte superiore e sei in quella inferiore. Nella parte centrale a destra il monogramma di Re Alberto II, ossia la A coronata, e nella parte a sinistra quello di Henri, la H con corona.
Sempre nella parte inferiore ci sono a sinistra il simbolo della Zecca di Bruxelles, la croce con l'Arcangelo Gabriele, e a destra il simbolo del Direttore della stessa Zecca, ossia la Bilancia di Romain Coenen

Il Verso, porta la Faccia Comune con il valore nominale dei 2 euro e la mappa dell'Europa. Questo lato è uguale per tutte le commemorative.

Nel 2005 viene emessa, il 25/10/2005, la Commemorativa da 2 euro finlandese ONU, per i 50 Anni dall'Adesione della Finlandia all'Onu.

Nella faccia al Dritto un puzzle compone una colomba con un rametto d'ulivo nel becco. La colomba è il simbolo riconosciuto della Pace e questa è determinata dalla sinergia e dall'unione delle singole tessere/Paesi.
Sulla destra l'anno di emissione 2005 con sopra la lettera K, firma dell'incisore Tapio Kettunen. A sinistra c'è scritto FINLAND-UN con sopra la lettera M, simbolo di Raimo Makkonen Direttore di Zecca finlandese.
Nell'anello intorno ci sono le 12 stelle dell'Unione Europea disposte a cerchio, interrotte solo a destra dall'ala della colomba.

Verso: La faccia al rovescio è la Faccia Comune, uguale per tutte le monete da 2 euro, sia commemorative che non, presenta sia il valore nominale che la mappa dell'Europa con i confini dei Paesi delineati.

Invece il contorno intorno alla moneta è finemente zigrinato e riporta la scritta: YK 1945 – 2005 FN seguita dalle 3 teste di Leone.

The second coin is the 2 Euro Commemorative Italy 2005, which was minted in honor of the 1st anniversary of the signing of the European Constitution.

On the Obverse, the coin features a very distinctive depiction. It shows the allegorical representation of Europa being abducted by Zeus, depicted as a bull. The nymph holds the text of the European Constitution and a pen.

At the bottom, there is the monogram of the Italian Republic with the author's signature on the left. At the top right is the year of minting, while the mint mark is on the top left. Surrounding the design are the usual 12 five-pointed stars representing the European states.

La prossima moneta da trattare è la moneta da 2 Euro commemorativi San Marino 2005, realizzata in occasione dell’Anno Mondiale della Fisica.

Al Dritto possiamo infatti notare uno dei maggiori esponenti della fisica ovvero Galileo Galilei intento ad osservare attraverso un telescopio con a fianco un mappamondo e il millesimo di conio. In basso ad arco è presente la scritta ANNO MONDIALE DELLA FISICA mentre in alto quella SAN MARINO. A sinistra della rappresentazione possiamo notare il simbolo di zecca R mentre a destra le iniziali dell’autore LDS (Luciana de Simoni). Tutto intorno come sempre sono presenti le 12 stelle a cinque punte che rappresentano gli Stati europei. Al Dritto la moneta ha la medesima faccia delle altre monete da 2 Euro.

The very first €2 commemorative coin from Spain was minted in 2005 in honor of Don Quixote, the famous literary character known for his futile fight against windmills. Issued on 30/06/2005

On the Obverse of the €2 coin from Spain 2005, we find a faithful representation of Don Quixote wielding a lance, with windmills in the background.

To the left is the inscription ESPAÑA, with the crowned M, the symbol of the Mint, directly below it.
On the outer edge, at the bottom, the year of minting is present, separated by one of the 12 stars. As with all Euro coins, the stars symbolize the European States.

Now we move on to the second commemorative 2 Euro coin from the Vatican. In this case, the coin commemorates the XX World Youth Day.

Specifically, on the Obverse, the 2005 Vatican 2 Euro coin features the depiction of the Cologne Cathedral overlooked by a comet star. Surrounding it is the circular inscription “XX GIORNATA MONDIALE DELLA GIOVENTU”.

On the left, the name of the sculptor “LONGO” and the engraver “E.L.F. Inc.” are present. All around are the 12 five-pointed stars interrupted at the top by the mint mark and year of minting, while at the bottom is the inscription “CITTÀ DEL VATICANO”.

On the Reverse, the coin features the same design as the others.
