In 2006, a commemorative €2 coin was issued dedicated to the Atomium, the monument to the Atom located in the Heysel Park in Brussels. Issued on 10/04/2006.
On the Obverse, in the nickel and brass coin, there is a photographic representation of the Atomium with its nine unit cell atoms, and to the right is the engraver Luc Luycx's signature (LL).
At the bottom right is the symbol of the Mint Director Romain Coenen, the scales, and to the left is the mark of the Brussels Mint, the Archangel Gabriel with the cross.
The year of minting is in the outer circle of the coin, at the bottom center, on the copper and nickel ring, part of the design of the monument also overflows, and the 12 stars are imprinted in a circle like the logo of Europe.
The Reverse instead features the Common Side like the other two-euro coins, indeed it shows the nominal value and the map of Europe in use in 2006.

Passiamo ad un’altra moneta finlandese, questa è del 2006 ed è stata coniata in onore del Centesimo Anniversario del Suffragio Universale, avvenuto appunto nel 1906. Emessa il 1/10/2006.
Al Dritto di questi 2 euro della Finlandia spiccano due visi femminili stilizzati e contrapposti verticalmente l'uno con l'altro. A separarli un solo nastro ondulante.
Nella parte sinistra compare in alto la lettera M, simbolo del Direttore di Zecca Raimo Makkonen e di seguito la data 1.10.1906. Invece sulla destra 20 FI 06, il millesimo di conio interrotto dalla sigla della Finlandia FI, a seguire un'altra M, in questo caso a firma dell'autore Pertti Makinen.
Intorno sono disposte a cerchio tutte le stelle che compongono il logo dell'Europa, che sono per l'esattezza 12.
Il Verso è il lato opposto della bimetallica, quello con il valore nominale dei 2 euro.
Il contorno laterale è finemente zigrinato è riporta la scritta: SUOMI FINLAND a cui fanno seguito le tre teste di Leone stilizzate.

The first German commemorative 2 euro coin was minted in 2006 and was dedicated to a German state: Schleswig-Holstein, one of the 16 Federal States of Germany. Issued on 3/2/2006.
On the Obverse, in the central brass part, the city gate Holstentor Lübeck is depicted in its majestic late Gothic red brick construction, the only remaining gate of the city walls. Below the inscription SCHLESWIG- HOLSTEIN in two lines, to the right is the engraver's signature Heinz Hoyer and to the left the mintmark A/D/F/G/J.
On the outer part of the coin, the 12 European stars are engraved in a semicircle at the top, separated above by the year 2006 in two blocks of 6 stars each, while in the lower semicircle, the inscription BUNDESREPUBLIK DEUTSCHLAND (Federal Republic of Germany) is embossed.
On the Reverse, there is the Common Side in use in 2006 featuring a map of European countries marked by their borders.

2 Euro 2006 Italy – Italian sports
We come to a coin that evokes Italian sports. In particular, this coin, the 2 Euro Commemorative Italy 2006, was minted to commemorate the XX Winter Olympic Games in Turin.
On the Obverse, the coin features the depiction of an athlete during a skiing descent. In the background, the Mole Antonelliana is represented, the symbol of the city of Turin, with the word TORINO at its base.
To the right of the Mole is the monogram of the Italian Republic, and just below it is the mintmark. On the right side of the coin, the year of minting appears along with the signature of the designer. Above the skier, the inscription “WINTER GAMES” is displayed. Surrounding the design are the 12 five-pointed stars representing the European states.

La terza moneta di questa fantastica collezione è stata coniata nel 2006 in onore di un personaggio storico davvero importante Cristoforo Colombo:
i 2 Euro Commemorativi San Marino 2006. Nello specifico infatti possiamo notare al Dritto la rappresentazione del viso di Colombo con di fianco le tre Caravelle mentre solcano l’oceano e la R della zecca di Roma. In basso è presente un cartiglio con all’interno incise le date 1506 – 2006. In alto troviamo la scritta SAN MARINO ed in basso le iniziali dell’autore LDS, Luciana de Simoni.

Ritratto postumo di Cristoforo Colombo realizzato ad Olio su tela da Sebastiano del Piombo (Sebastiano Luciani) nel 1519 ed esposto al MOMA di New York. Dimensioni 106,7 x 88,3 cm. Il ritratto di Uomo in stile manierista raffigura con molta probabilità Cristoforo Colombo, lo si intuisce dall'iscrizione in alto “il ligure Colombo, il primo a entrare in nave nel mondo degli antipodi 1519“. Quindi non è un ritratto dal vero, ma un ritratto postumo del veneziano Luciani, detto del Piombo.

Let's move on to another coin, namely the one that commemorates the 500th anniversary of the Swiss Guard.
On the Obverse, the coin features the depiction of a Guard taking his oath to the Pope with a flag in hand. At the top, the inscription arches “GUARDIA SVIZZERA PONTIFICIA” while at the bottom, the arching text reads “CITTÀ DEL VATICANO”.
On the left, the date 1506 is present, while on the right, the mintmark and the year of minting 2006 are displayed. Near the flagpole, the name of the designer “O.ROSSI” can be found, while below the mintmark are the initials of the engraver “M.C.C. INC.” Surrounding it all, as always, are the 12 five-pointed stars representing the European states.
On the Reverse, we find the same face as the other 2 Euro coins.
