Let's move on to another coin, namely the one that commemorates the 500th anniversary of the Swiss Guard.

On the Obverse, the coin features the depiction of a Guard taking his oath to the Pope with a flag in hand. At the top, the inscription arches “Swiss Guard PONTIFICIA” while at the bottom, the arching text reads “CITTÀ DEL VATICANO”.

On the left, the date 1506 is present, while on the right, the mintmark and the year of minting 2006 are displayed. Near the flagpole, the name of the designer “O.ROSSI” can be found, while below the mintmark are the initials of the engraver “M.C.C. INC.” Surrounding it all, as always, are the 12 five-pointed stars representing the European states.

On the Reverse, we find the same face as the other 2 Euro coins.
