The coin we will discuss in this section holds particular historical significance. We are talking about the €2 Commemorative coin from Monaco minted in 2015 for the 800th Anniversary of the Construction of the Fortress of the Rock.

On the Obverse, or National Side, we can observe a magnificent representation of a tower located right on the rock. At the top, the word “MONACO” is prominently displayed, enclosed between the cornucopia, which is the symbol of the Paris Mint, and the symbol of the mint director Yves Sampo, represented by a pentagon with the letters AGMP (Atelier de Gravure de la Monnaie de Paris et Pessac).

At the bottom, the inscription “FONDATION DE LA FORTERESSE,” meaning “Foundation of the Fortress,” is engraved between the dates 1215 and 2015. On the outer edge, the 12 five-pointed stars representing the European states are present. As for the Reverse, it features the Common Side.

The coin is included in a FS Box. The author is Atelier de Gravure Sainquantin.
