Cyprus €2 UEM 2009 — Value and Rarity
Full sheet for Cyprus's 2009 €2 commemorative UEM: estimated value, mintage and obverse description.
Description of the 2 Euro UEM 2009
The very first coin is a piece that, to be honest, is shared by all European states. It is indeed the 2 Euro Commemorative coin minted in 2009 in honor of the 10th anniversary of the Economic and Monetary Union.
On the Obverse, we can observe a very particular design representing a stylized human figure next to the Euro symbol. This design indicates the Euro as the last step in human economic history, from primitive barter to today.
It is important to emphasize that this design was also chosen by European citizens through an online survey that involved all European citizens.
At the top, we can see the inscription in an arc KYΠPOΣ KIBRIS while at the bottom it reads ONE 1999-2009. Just below the Euro symbol, precisely to the right, are also the initials of the author ΓΣ.
All around, as usual, are engraved the 12 five-pointed stars representing the European states.
Author: Georgios Stamatopoulos
On the Reverse, the coin features the Common Side of all 2 Euro coins.
The coin is included in the FDC 2009 Divisionale, in an FDC Box and in an FDC Capsule.
