Description of the 2 Euro Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba 2010
The next €2 Commemorative coin from Spain was minted in 2010 and is dedicated to a historical monument. Specifically, we are talking about the Mosque-Cathedral of Cordoba, built between the 8th and 10th centuries. The Mosque is one of the greatest examples of Islamic architecture in Europe, although over the years it has undergone numerous transformations until it was officially consecrated as a Christian Cathedral. Issue date 3/03/2010.
On the Obverse, we can see the representation of one of the most characteristic features of the Cathedral, namely the famous “Forest of Columns” made up of columns and arches. To the left, we find the crowned M symbolizing the Madrid Mint, while at the bottom is the inscription ESPAÑA 2010.
Surrounding it are the usual 12 five-pointed stars representing the European States.
The Common Side is identical to the Reverse of all other €2 coins.
