This €2 coin belongs to Slovenia’s commemorative series. It was struck for the 150th anniversary of the birth of Ivan Cankar, Slovenian writer and poet.

The design (by Adam Breznik) is inspired by the Ivan Cankar sculpture at the Cankarjev dom cultural centre: a large metal cube of about 30 plates whose outlines form an optical portrait of Cankar seen from a distance. Around the edge, the legends IVAN CANKAR and SLOVENIJA 2026; the outer ring carries the 12 European stars.

Issued on 17 June 2026. Included in BU and Proof sets and a Proof capsule.
