The commemorative coin is dedicated to the Elbphilharmonie, an imposing building with the Concert Hall in the city of Hamburg, also known as Elphi, which hosts some of the largest and acoustically advanced concert halls in the world.

It is a sail-shaped structure made primarily of glass above a warehouse from 1963, which includes: a hotel, restaurant, bar, spa, conference room, garage, 45 luxurious apartments, and three acoustic halls: the Recital Hall with 550 seats, the Great Concert Hall with 2,100 seats, and the Kaistudio with 170 seats.

The Elbe Philharmonic began its construction in 2007 and was officially inaugurated in 2017 as a majestic residential and cultural complex.
