2 Euro Cyprus 2009 – 10th Anniversary Economic and Monetary Union
The very first coin is a piece that, to be honest, all European states share. It is in fact the 2 Euro Commemorative coin minted in 2009 in honour of the 10th anniversary of the Economic and Monetary Union.
At the Obverse we can observe a very particular design that represents a stylized human figure with the Euro symbol next to it. This design indicates the Euro as the last step in human economic history, from the primitive barter to today.
It is important to stress in this respect that this design was also chosen by European citizens through an online survey involving all European citizens.
At the top we can see the arched inscription KYĪ POĪ£ KIBRIS and at the bottom the one ONE 1999-2009. Just below the symbol of the Euro, on the right, there are also the initials of the author ĪĪ£.
All around as usual are engraved the 12 five-pointed stars representing the European states.
The reverse side of the coin shows the common side of all the 2 Euro coins.

2 Euro Cyprus 2012 – 10 years of Euro notes and coins
The next Cypriot commemorative 2 euro coins, also in circulation in all Euro countries, was minted in 2012 in honour of 10 years of Euro banknotes and coins.
At the Obverse we can in fact observe a very particular design. Also in this case we are talking about a design chosen by European citizens through an online survey.
Specifically, the design depicts the symbol of the Euro placed at the center of the globe, to reaffirm the importance of the euro for Europe.
All around then are placed various elements that reinforce this very concept. We can see, for example, human figures indicating citizens, a ship indicating trade, a factory representing industry and finally a wind turbine symbolizing energy.
At the top is engraved “KYĪ POĪ£ KIBRIS” and at the bottom the dates “2002 – 2012”.
On the outermost edge as usual are the 12 five-pointed stars representing the European states.
The reverse is instead identical to that of any other Cypriot or non-Cypriot 2 Euro coins.
The coin is included in the 2012 BCD Divisional, in a BCD Capsule and in an FS Box.

2 Euro Cyprus 2015 – 30th anniversary European flag
Let’s move on to the third coin in this short but intense collection. Specifically, the Cypriot commemorative 2 euro coins in question was minted in 2015 on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the European flag. We also find this coin in the other Euro countries.
As we can see on the Obverse there is a drawing depicting the European flag placed perfectly in the centre. All around are stylized human figures that surround the flag almost as if in an embrace. The meaning of all this is the union of peoples for the creation of a new and better Europe.
In alto a destra, a semicerchio, ĆØ presente la scritta āĪĪ„Ī Ī”ĪĪ£ KIBRISā e le date ā1985 ā 2015ā. In basso a destra sono incise invece le iniziali dellāautore.
All around are placed as always the 12 stars representing the European states.
As far as the reverse this does not differ from that of any other 2 Euro currency.

2 Euro Cyprus 2017 – Pafo European Capital of Culture
We come to what is probably one of the most interesting coins in this collection. In particular we talk about the 2 Euro Commemorative coin minted in 2017 on the occasion of the nomination of Pafo as European Capital of Culture.
Pafo is an ancient port city located at the western end of Cyprus which was known in antiquity for the presence of a sanctuary dedicated to Aphrodite which, according to tradition, was born right here.
Going back to the coin to the Obverse we can observe a representation of the ancient Odeon of Pafo an amphitheater of modest dimensions dating back to the second century BC. Today the complex hosts in summer shows and performances of music and theatre.
At the bottom we can see the words ‘ĪĪ„Ī Ī”ĪĪ£ KIBRIS’ and at the top, arched, the words ‘Ī Ī¬ĻĪæĻ 2017 – Ī ĪæĪ»Ī¹ĻĪ¹ĻĻĪ¹ĪŗĪ® ĻĻĻĻĪµĻĪæĻ ĻĪ± ĪĻ ĻĻĻĪ·Ļ’ (Pafo 2017 – European Capital of Culture).

The 2 Euro Commemorative Cyprus 2020 is dedicated to the 30th Anniversary of the Institute of Neurology and Genetics of the island of Cyprus. Issued on 14/12/2020. NC.
On the obverse the representation of a neuron with synapses in the central part of the coin, around it the inscription INETITOYTO NEYPOAORIAĪ£ & RENETIKHĪ£ KIMPOY 1990-2020. At the bottom the issuing country ĪĪ„Ī Ī”ĪĪ£ KIBRIS and all around the 12 5-pointed stars.
