2 Euro Estonia 2012 – 10 years of Euro Banknotes and Coins
The very first 2 Euro commemorative coin of Estonia is the one minted in 2012 on the occasion of 10 years of Euro banknotes and coins. It is a currency common to all European countries that differs only from the name of the state engraved above.
Specifically at the Obverse we can observe the representation of the Euro symbol placed in the center of the globe. This is precisely to reaffirm the importance of the single currency for Europe. At the top is the inscription “EESTI” while at the bottom the dates “2002 – 2012”.
All around are other elements that reinforce this very concept. We have, for example, the ship symbolising trade, the people who naturally represent European citizens and the importance of the Euro for them, the factory representing industry and, finally, the wind turbines symbolising energy.
It should be noted that the design was chosen directly by European citizens through an online competition.
On the outermost edge are as always the twelve five-pointed stars representing the European states.
While on the reverse the coin appears identical to any other 2 Euro coin with its common face.
The coin is only available in circulation.

The second 2 Euro Commemorative coin of Estonia is also of considerable historical importance. In particular, this currency was minted in 2015 for the 30th Anniversary of the European Flag. Also this coin has been minted in the different European countries, each with its own name engraved on it.
In the National Face to the Obverse we can in fact observe a beautiful representation of the European Flag placed perfectly in the center of the coin. All around are then engraved 12 stylized human figures that naturally represent the Member States and, more generally, the European citizens, gathered to found a new and better Europe.
On the top right, placed in a semicircle, we can also see the words “EESTI” and the dates “1985 – 2015”. On the outer ring the coin has the 12 stars representing the European states.
The reverse is the Common Face, the same for all 2 Euro coins.
The coin is included in a Coincard FDC.

The third coin in this collection refers to an important historical figure in Estonia. Specifically, this 2 Euro commemorative coin was minted in 2016 to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the birth of Paul Keres.
This was a well-known Soviet chess player, of Estonian origin, who wrote essays, books and is considered one of the strongest in the world among those who have never won the title of world champion.
At the Obverse we can see the representation of Paul Keres’ face facing left with some pieces of the chessboard at the bottom.
Always on the left, arranged in a semicircle, is engraved the inscription “PAUL KERES” while a little further down the one “EESTI” followed by the year of issue “2016”.
All around the coin features the classic 12 five-pointed stars, representing the European States.
As far as the reverse is concerned, we speak of the Common Face present in each 2 Euro coin.

2 Euro Estonia 2017 – Estonian Road to Independence
Let’s move on to another really important 2 Euro Commemorative coin of Estonia. In particular we are talking about the coin minted in 2017 to celebrate Estonia’s road to independence.
At the Obverse we can observe a really significant drawing. It is a tree, precisely an oak tree, which represents the winding road of the State to independence. The important thing to note is that the oak has bare branches on one side and full, leafy branches on the other.
Under the bare area is engraved the date 1917 and, metaphorically, these empty branches represent the situation of the country before independence. Under the thick zone there is the inscription “EESTI” and the year “2017”. This area naturally represents the strength and rebirth of the country.
It is no coincidence that oak leaves are also present on the coat of arms of the Republic of Estonia. Finally, the inscription “MAAPÄEV” is engraved at the bottom. Distributed all around the coin are the 12 5-pointed stars representing the European countries.
On the reverse side the coin is like any other 2 Euro coin with its common face.
The coin is included in a Coincard FDC.

Another coin with a strong symbolic and representative value. Specifically we are talking about the 2 Euro commemorative coin of Estonia minted in 2018 on the occasion of the 100th Anniversary of the Baltic States.
On the Obverse we can in fact immediately observe the representation of the three coats of arms of the Baltic States, namely Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. These are placed at the top and are represented with long braided hair which reaffirm the deep bond between these three states. They are called the three Baltic sisters.
On the left is engraved the inscription “EESTI” while on the right the thousandth of minting “2018”. On the outer edge, as always, the 12 five-pointed stars that symbolize the European countries are evenly distributed in a circle.
Instead for the reverse here is the Common Face of the 2 Euro coins.
The coin is included in the FDC Divisional and a Coincard FDC.

In the same year another coin was also minted. In particular we are talking about the 2 Euro Commemorative coin minted in 2018 on the occasion of the 100th Anniversary of Estonia’s independence.
Estonia achieved independence in 1918 and, while the coin minted in 2017 and previously seen celebrating the road to independence, it was minted on the occasion of the annual anniversary of this happy event.
At the Obverse we can observe a refined design that represents, at the same time, the numbers 18 (the year of independence) and 100 (the anniversary). At the bottom in a semicircle are instead engraved the words “SADA AASTAT EESTI VABARIIKI – EESTI 2018”.
All around you can see the twelve 5-pointed stars as a symbol of Europe. As for the Verso this does not differ from that of any other 2 Euro coin.
The coin is included in a Coincard FDC and a Coincard UNC.
