History of Andorran Euro Coins

In this regard, it is essential to understand that the Principality of Andorra, since its foundation in 1278, has been, after various disputes, for a French and a Spanish part.

This has brought substantially the principality to use in part the French currency, therefore the Franco, and in part that Spanish one therefore the Pesetas.

In 1977 the “Diners” were minted, considered the only typical Andorran currency even if used only for collecting purposes.

From 1999 onwards, after France and Spain joined the European Union, the Principality of Andorra also switched to the Euro under the agreements with these countries.

Specifically, the euro currency has been authorized to circulate, under the agreements made, from July 1, 2013 even if the Ministry of Finance Andorrano decided to postpone its dissemination to 2014.

After this brief but necessary introduction, let’s go together to analyse individually all the Andorran Euro Coins.
