This 2 Euro Monaco coin commemorating the Principality of Monaco was minted in 2007 in honor of the 25th anniversary of the death of Princess Grace Kelly. These are the rarest Monegasque commemorative 2 euro coins in the collection, the most sought after and most quoted.

Grace Patricia Kelly was an American actress who decided to abandon her film career to marry Prince Rainier III of Monaco. The princess, then naturalized Monegasque, was the mother of Princes Carolina, Albert II and Stephanie before tragically dying in a car accident in 1982.

Back to the National Face of these rare 2 euro Monaco, at the obverse, we can see the face of the princess facing left. On the right is engraved the inscription “MONACO” with the date “2017” inserted between a cornucopia (symbol of the Monaco mint) is a horn symbol of the mint director Hubert Lorivière.

On the obverse we can see the faces of the couple, with Alberto behind and Charléne in front, both facing left.

Under the two effigies there is the inscription “MONACO” followed by the thousandth coinage 2011.

This 2 Euro commemorative coin was minted in 2012 on the occasion of the 500th Anniversary of the Sovereignty of Monaco.

To the Obverse in fact is represented Luciano Grimaldi, also called Luciano of Monaco, who became Lord of Monaco on October 11, 1505 after having murdered his predecessor and brother John II. Luciano maintained his sovereignty until his death on August 22, 1523.

The face of the sovereign on the coin faces to the left and is accompanied by the inscription “1512 SOUVERAINETÉ DE MONACO 2012”. At the bottom of the coin is the inscription “LUCIEN Ier” accompanied by the cornucopia which is the symbol of the Paris Mint.

On the right is the symbol of the mint director Yves Sampo or a pentagon with the letters AGMP (Atelier de Gravure de la Monnaie de Paris et Pessac).

All around are the 12 five-pointed stars.

The reverse is the Common Face, identical to the other 2 Euro coins.

Let’s move on to another coin of incredible historical importance. In this case we are talking about the 2 Euro Commemorative coin minted in 2016 in honor of the 150th anniversary of the foundation of Monte Carlo by Charles III or Charles III of Monaco.

Charles III was reigning Prince of Monaco from June 20, 1856 until his death on September 10, 1889. The prince is especially remembered for the foundation of the casino of Monte Carlo established to replenish the coffers of the State after the waste of the previous government.

This was founded specifically by Prince Honoratus IV in 1817 and, at least initially, bore the name of Company of Guards.

The obverse depicts a half-length bust of Prince Honoré III in regal attire and typical 18th century style, with the symbol of the Paris Mint, the cornucopia, and his name HONORÉ III, to the left. To the right is the inscription MONACO followed by the symbol of Mint Director Yves Sampo, a pentagon with the acronym Atelier de Gravure de la Monnaie de Paris et Pessac.

At the bottom is the date 1720 – Naissance – 2020. The coin’s outer ring, where the Prince’s hand also protrudes, is engraved with the 12 stars of the European Union.
